The Power of Play

Take a moment and think back to when you were a child. Do you remember the way you experienced life before the world told you how to view it, or before your traumas shaped your perception of it? Can you recall how it felt to wake to a new day, full to the brim with excitement at the infinite possibilities that awaited?

When we’re children, we’re connected to a deeper understanding of life than we can put into words. We’re…free. Not yet defined by the boundaries that will one day be imposed on us or the roles that we’ll be forced to play. We don’t know what we don’t know, and that is one of the greatest gifts we ever receive—for it is the not knowing that creates space for everything we are to emerge.

Sadly, most of us lose touch with this potent Source energy as we grow into adulthood. We forget what it’s like to enjoy life for the sake of enjoyment and instead focus on what we’re told is important: status, money, power, material things. There is a purpose or goal attached to just about everything we do, and we begin to believe that we must earn our right to exist through productivity and achievement.

But what if the meaning of life isn’t to pursue some grand purpose but rather to experience every moment to the fullest? To revel in the bliss of existence ‘just because’. What if life IS the gift, and we are already inherently worthy of receiving all it has to offer?
